Rhinoplasty Before and After: What Results Really Look Like

Before-and-after photos are one of the most useful tools for understanding what rhinoplasty can achieve — but they're also one of the easiest things to misread. Here's how to look at them properly when researching a surgeon.

Consistency Matters More Than the Photos Themselves

The most reliable before-and-after sets use the same angle, lighting, distance, and facial expression in both photos. If lighting or angle differs noticeably, it's very hard to judge how much of the change is really surgical.

Look at Multiple Angles, Not Just Profile

A profile (side-on) view is the most flattering angle to showcase rhinoplasty results, but it only tells part of the story. Frontal and three-quarter views give a fuller sense of how a result looks from the angles people actually see you from day to day.

Timing Matters

Nasal swelling can take up to a year to fully resolve. A photo taken two weeks after surgery looks very different from the same result at twelve months — ask when an "after" photo was actually taken.

Every Nose Is Different

A result on someone else's nose — with different skin thickness, bone structure, and cartilage — isn't a reliable prediction of your own outcome. Photos are best used to understand a surgeon's style and attention to detail, not as a literal preview of your own result.
